Custom Processing / NOVA SCOTIA LINEN

Custom Flax Processing: Flax growers can now send us their retted flax so we can break, scutch, and hackle the fibre. The cost for primary processing of the retted flax is $30 per hour + HST. After processing you will have clean long fibre, clean tow from the hackling, tow and shive mix from the scutching, and shive from the breaker.

We can also further process your tow. $30/ hour + hst to separated it, providing clean tow.

We can then card using Belfast Mini Mills equipment to be turned into battings and/or rovings.

Spinning flax on our spinning machine takes 6 times as long to spin vs doing wool. It is amazing! Fibre quality depending, we are able to spin a 9 lea single yarn. The cost for spinning flax yarn is currently very high. Our spinning mill rate is $37 per hour. Because of the size of our mill, when doing flax we are held up and unable to multitask because of how long it takes to spin. Therefore our cost for spinning yarn is currently $37 per hour. Please know we are actively seeking alternatives to make this more affordable for us all.

Animal Fibre Processing: Our equipment from Belfast Mini Mills is designed to create yarn from fibre with staple lengths up to 7 inches long. We can create rovings, battings, and any gauge or ply yarn that the fibre allows.

The Mill is located at 10009 Hwy 1 in Greenwich (the old winter market at Noggins Corner Farm)
