World Wide Knit in Public Day at TapRoot Spinning Mill June 10

Everyone is invited to join us on June 10th to celebrate knitting. 2PM – 6 PM – Rain or Shine.

Join in the largest knitting event in the world.

“World Wide Knit in Public Day was started in 2005 by Danielle Landes. It began as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other’s company. Knitting is such a solitary act that it’s easy to knit alone somewhere and sink into your work without thinking about all the other knitters out there. Neighbors could spend all their lives never knowing that the other knits.  This a specific day to get out of your house and go to a local event (with your knitting in tow) just for you and people like you.  Who knows you might even bump into your neighbor! Consider this a spark, to ignite a fire; getting all of the closeted knitters out into fresh air.” Learn more… https://www.wwkipday.com/about/

TapRoot Spinning Mill has been spinning flax and wool into yarn for 5 years. We are here because we believe in localized textile production. We want people to have access to beautiful local wool that is raised on sheep here in our community, processed into yarn in our community and is available for people in our community to use for their various artistic and textile endeavors. We also specialize in tow linen yarn.

We want to celebrate everyone who knits and encourage our community to consider starting to knit as a way to build our collective skill for resilience during this time of climate adaptation. Through knitting with local fibres we can change the world, one knitter at a time.

On June 10 from 2 – 6 PM we will have:

Let’s come together and enjoy each others company for an afternoon. We look forward to seeing you.
